Recent May Purchases

I always get asked about my shopping habits so I decided it was high time I document what I've bought and share my finds with you. Generally I Pin or Polyvore everything I'm crushing on to see if it will work with my wardrobe and lifestyle and to bookmark it for future shopping. It's a great way to keep track of items I'd like to add to my closet and to style them as I see fit. While I do hit up the stores to see what's hot and of the moment for article ideas I don't always buy what you may see me try on in my #dressingroomdiaries on Instagram. I love to shop don't get me wrong, but the way my budget is set up.....
Also - clothes or shoe shopping with an active toddler in tow is not really my idea of a good time right now so I have to maximize any time I get to spend sans Tiny Tornado. This is also why I Pin - it helps me narrow down what I really want versus what's practical for my life. Below is what I purchased this month so far (some of it was the end of April but who's counting) and this is the time of year I do the majority of my shopping since Mother's Day and my birthday are a month apart and I get gift cards galore.

recent May purchases

1) I happened to have a free 30 minutes last week and decided to pop into H&M and boy was I happy with what I found! A fabulous emerald green pleated dress that is the doppelganger for a similar one I found last summer. But at about $100 less. Needless to say I was sold.
2) My short situation has left something to be desired in that they are all cut-offs or far too short for outside the house. These cute distressed boyfriend shorts at Old Navy were on sale so it was a no-brainer.
3) ASOS is always a winner in my book and this lightweight sundress fits the bill for both dressy and casual occasion's.  It was great for derby day and I'm sure I'll find several other places to rock it. I'm kind of obsessed.
4) My love affair with loose pants has been a long time coming this year and I was thrilled that  my H&M had these in stock. They're ridiculously comfortable and they have pockets! I may not take them off.
5) I'm perpetually on the hunt for the perfect striped tee and this one from Old Navy fit my mental description perfectly. Lightweight, thin stripes and loose fitting. Don't be surprised when it shows up in outfit photos often.
6) My goal is to add more colorful shoes to my closet as I think I have most of the "neutrals" covered. These were under $30 from ASOS and will be arriving this week. I can't wait to rock them.
7) I've been wanting a utility vest for over a year but it was never in stock in my size! Or it was far above the price I was wanting to pay. As luck would have it my recent trip to Old Navy proved fruitful in more ways than one as I stumbled across this gem.
8)Again, Old Navy was having a great sale on denim shorts and how could I say no to distressed with paint splatters? This image doesn't do them justice as they are super cute, comfy and just long enough I feel 'mom appropriate'. I'm going to live in them all summer long.
9) Really Old Navy and H&M were just having a moment this month as they loose pants seemed to fall into my lap while looking for shorts for the hubs. They'll be perfect when the June gloom kicks in and it's cool while being too hot for jeans but still wanting to keep my legs covered. I also think they might be the perfect travel pants as they are uber comfy and wrinkle friendly!
