Mama Style: A Day at Disney

Now that it's "officially" Fall I am counting down the days permanent until cooler weather settles in thanks in great part to a ridiculous heatwave we Southern Californians had the last few months and also because that means it's almost time for the Holidays!! I am super excited about them this year as Baby Ninja is a bit older and has a better understanding of what all the fuss is about. I'm excited to show him all the beauty and wonder that the world has to offer around this time and one of my favorite things is going to Disneyland to see all the crazy fabulous decorations.
The Disneyland staff does it bigger and better every year and I'm kind of embarrassed to say we haven't been in years despite the fact that we don't live terribly far from the park. One of my favorite family memories is when D and I (along with 15+ other family members) took Sweet Pea for her 5th birthday. We had a blast and even though she was too small to experience some of m…

Mamanista Fridays: Fall Hat Edition

I love a good style link up and feel like I haven't done one in awhile since my style posts have been few and far between. I used to link up with The Pleated Poppy religiously every Wednesday as well as a few others but that kind of fell off in the last year as I've cut back a bit on the style posts as I've tried to get my head above water. Part of why I love to do them is for the inspiration and because I'm nosy and like to see what other people are wearing or how they style a trend. Rather, what their interpretation of a trend is. I love it when people can take one item and showcase it in so many ways. Gets my blood pumping.

However, I am always up for a challenge so when I see any of my favorite stylish bloggers are doing a link up, I try my best to join in. For this particular challenge I'm joining Trina and Araceily, aka The Baby Shopaholic and Mama Fashion Files  in rocking Fall hats.  I've always loved hats, thanks to spending many a Sunday in a mid-wes…

DIY Beauty: Cinnamon Coffee Scrub

It's no secret that I'm a recovering beauty junkie. I love products of all kind and I used to spend hundreds of dollars like it was nothing on all manner of creams, potions and body washes galore. A few weeks ago some girlfriends and I were talking bath and beauty products and happened upon the subject of body scrubs and I mentioned that I had made my own in the past and that recently my friend Christie of Living Simplistically made a homemade soap with coffee. I was pretty impressed and for a brief moment wished I knew how to make soap. I love the idea of homemade beauty products and then I remembered how much I loved a coffee scrub that used to get from my girlfriends stores and thought, well I could try to make I that myself right? I mean , a few years ago I made brown sugar body scrubs for myself and a few girlfriends for Christmas so surely I can make a coffee version right?

And I LOVE  the smell of coffee even if I don't drink it everyday and if I remember correctly …

Weekend Style:Making Fall Happen

Have you ever been inspired by a look that someone else wore and then gone about replicating it in your own way? That happened to me a few months ago. My friend Andrea wore this really cute printed dress and it resonated with me. I loved the colors, vibrant pattern and length so when I happened to be in Forever 21 with Sweet Pea a few weeks later I had the opportunity to peruse the racks and my eye lingered on the chevron print. Once I tried it on I was totally sold. It fell in line with my vision and I had at least 6 different ways to style it for each season in my head and knew I had the perfect boots for my first look. To say I was happy with my purchase is an understatement.

I never had a chance to wear it until a few weeks when we went to brunch by the water. My godmother has been out of state staying with my god-sisters while she recuperated from surgery and I haven't seen her in several months so when I heard she was going to be in town I checked the calendar to see what day…

A Taste Of France in the Heart of Cognac

A few weeks ago my friend Xenia posted a link about a tasting experience for Remy Martin and I was immediately intrigued. Being that it was D's birthday month and I'm all about prolonging the celebration I quickly hopped over to see what it was all about. Initially, I was a little bummed at seeing their were only weekdays available for what sounded like an interesting experience, but then I remembered we're grown ups and it's his birthday so the party don't stop.
My husband and his friends are somewhat connoisseurs of cognac so I reached out to his best friend and his wife to see if they were available to go out on a school night as well. As luck would have it, they were and I was super excited to have yet another fun experience with my man. Making time out for dates is very important to us and I was happy to have another couple to share the evening with as we all enjoy each other's company and the boys have been friends for so long they've pretty much cre…

Mama Monday: Making the Most of Moments Creative Galaxy

Thank you Amazon Studios for sponsoring this post. Find inspiration for new art projects and fun by checking out the new episodes of Creative Galaxy on Amazon Prime!

We are in the throws of toddler hood around here and it's been a challenge to find things to do that are not only inexpensive but educational and capture the attention of the Baby Ninja. He's a very busy boy and loves to play and recently has shown interest in more artistic endeavors so I was happy to hear about Creative Galaxy on Amazon Prime Instant Video.  We already love our Amazon Prime Instant Video app and the boy knows how to navigate through to what he wants to watch and that has saved our sanity on more than one occasion. Our recent trip to San Francisco proved our Tiny Tornado had a passion for creative exploration and I have no problem letting him quench his thirst.

In a technological age I'm all about exposing my kids to art in every way possible. Even if that means using technology to do so. What…

Currently Crushing: Midi Skirt + Crop Top

I'm still committing to not shopping for the season (minus a few items I've already planned to purchase ) but that doesn't mean I don't have my eyes on things!
Lately I've been quietly obsessing about crop tops. I know what you might be thinking.....isn't she like a 35 year old HOUSEWIFE? Why would she wear that? But, I think I really want one and have in my head how I want it to look, I just haven't found But it's out there, I'm sure of it.  I'm also equally obsessed with midi skirts. As someone 5'4 it's always a bit daunting to find the correct length skirt for my body type and while I love the midi it's almost always shown on someone who is at least 4 inches taller than me. So I worry. Admittedly this was a trend I wasn't initially too keen on as I've never really been a fan of skirts that hit below the knee since I didn't think they looked right on me. But, it's starting to grow on me. The itch began way ba…

Daily Style: A Vested Interest

A few weeks back I was waxing poetic on my desire to not shop so much this fall season and how I was only interested in a few key basic black pieces. Well, lucky for me, on a BTS shopping trip with Sweet Pea I scored two pieces from my black list at Old Navy. Y'all, I can't even begin to explain how excited that made me! I know it seems silly but when the things align and I find stuff on my closet wish list, well that kind of makes my heart skip a beat. You know I'm a big believer in working your closet but I also fully believe in having a closet that is functional and works with your lifestyle. That's part of the dream right? Effortless dressing and all that. I'm happy to say that these additions fit beautifully into that category and work well in my current season of life.

I've been wanting a more casual black jumpsuit for the longest but the ones I've found are usually a little too pricey for my modest budget or, are lacking in some way. This one is pro…
