Hair Rules : Pantene Pro-V Truly Natural (spon)

African American women are serious about their hair. I mean like....SERIOUS. As in it's a multi-million dollar industry thanks to us. Hair is a huge part of who we are and from a very young age we are somewhat defined by it. Good hair vs. bad (nappy) hair has long been a topic in many a African American household. But lately there has been a movement towards going back to 'natural' hair. For some,"natural" might mean only wearing your hair in it's naturally curly/kinky state but I take it to mean not using any chemicals to get it straight.
I have been relaxer free for about 5 years but continue to press it out so it's straight (and easier for me to manage) so I guess I 'technically' fall into the "natural" hair category even though I press my hair straight. The downside to not having a relaxer is that it's hard to find quality products at mass market stores at an affordable price point that cater to our type of hair. Needless to say I was super excited when Pantene announced they had a new line specifically targeted toward African American woman and their various hair desires. Introducing Pantene Pro-V Truly Natural and Pantene Pro-V Truly Relaxed.

First let's talk about how jazzed I was to receive full size samples of this line and I couldn't wait to start using it! I tried the Co-Wash Cleansing Conditioner on my son's hair the day it arrived and have been so pleased with the results! His natural curls come to life after a wash and are easy to comb through so there are no more tears after a bath! The curl defining Custard smells delicious and makes his hair so soft and his curls so fluffy! We just love it!
I took the shampoo and conditioner with me to the hair salon on Wednesday and had my stylist use  it on me before she braided me up to put in a full weave.
My hair was so soft and fluffy she asked if she could borrow it to use on other customers! Ha!
natural hair right after the co-wash!

Some highlights from the brand:
  • This collection is super affordable with shampoo's and conditioners priced at $4.99! Other styling options and treatments are also available in each collection.
  • Truly Natural: African American women with natural hair can have a tight curl pattern, making it difficult for the scalp's natural sebum to moisturize the hair. It can also be prone to tangling and dryness. The Pro-V formula offers deep cleansing without stripping away the natural moisture.
  • Truly Relaxed: African American women with chemically relaxed hair can be left with excessively dry hair. This collection features gentle cleansing with protection against dryness and breakage with oil-enriched Pro-V shampoo and conditioner that moisturizes and protects while still leaving your hair clean and shiny.

I love that each collection has ingredients specifically chosen for our unique hair needs to ensure a good hair day no matter what your style! Whether you're rocking a natural or relaxed look Pantene Pro-V is sure to get you on your journey to healthy hair and a killer hair day every day!
