Weekend Wrap Up - Birthday Edition
Note to self :
You are not as young as you used to be no matter how old you think you are in your mind.
Going out all day and staying up late two days in a row is not a good idea and you will regret it later.
Well the birthday weekend is over and I am feeling a bit of a let down.
I enjoy my birthday and all the festivities it brings so the after math is kind of lame if you ask me.
It's like the big rush you get before Christmas and then it happens and then you have to move on.
I had a pretty awesome weekend.
As I've said before - birthdays (for me) have changed over the years and its less about going out and painting the town red than it is hanging out around my house and enjoying my friends company.
Babe and I made it out to the L.A. Wine Festival on Saturday (my actual birthday) and had a stone cold blast.
We were able to sample quite a few different wines as well as a few other choice cocktails.
There were food trucks galore and one even had beignets!!
Suffice to say I was covered in powdered sugar after that one....but it was totally worth it.
We eventually made our way to a booth that was selling Balsamic Vinegars and olive oils and let me just tell you they were SO good.
We tasted them on a spoon and thoroughly enjoyed them (no bread or nothing!) so we ended up buying 4 bottles.
We got a Pomegranate Balsamic, Traditional Balsamic, Blood Orange Olive Oil and a White Balsamic.
I can't wait to use these!
That was my birthday present from my hubby.
My present to myself is going to be these beauties from Steve Madden

Yesterday I celebrated yet again, at home with our closest friends and family.
Which turned out to be a group of about 50 people.
It was nuts. At one point I felt like I was in the eye of a hurricane it was so chaotic.
Babe and I were busy all day cooking and pulling things together but it was nice to have a house full of loved ones.
I got to try out some new Pinterest recipes

I've found that as I get older I'm not really about having a ton of gifts from everyone.
I mean its nice(don't get me wrong I like gifts) but that's not really what the party is all about.
But I was blessed with a wicked bottle of wine I can't wait to try
Clearly the givers of the Starbucks gc's are moms who know how a new mama needs her coffee!
It was an exhausting day but full of love and laughter and all the people that matter most on this coast.
It made me appreciate all that I have in my life and really note that I can't complain about too much.
Life is really good and I am happy to be able to share it with my fabulous husband (who worked so hard yesterday grilling everything to perfection) two cuddly kids (one of which proclaimed she was my birthday present) and friends & family who love me unconditionally.
It was a wondrous weekend and I can't wait to see what the rest of the month has in store!
Did you guys do anything fun this weekend?
