drama rama .....the story of my life

Holy. Horror. Batman!
Remember when I told y'all about my lovely h.s. friend Elisa and how fabulous she was in helping me to find a wedding location?
yeah. that.
well yesterday she sends me an  URGENT FB message to call her ASAP.
and then she texts me.
so I'm really concerned because this is unusual.
so I call her.
and she tells me what no bride ever wants to hear.
the Rancho Capistrano is closing it's doors in 60 days.
yes.60 days.
Needless to say I was floored.
Floored I tell you!
No words would even come out!
How the heck is this going to work itself out!????
Apparently they are still offering to hold weddings but there will be
NO
catering
waitstaff
hospitality staff
on-site coordinator
linens
all of the things I paid for in my deposit.
Awesome.
So now, 172 days before my proposed wedding date I have to scramble like crazy to find another location
that is
suitable for our tastes
within our budget
accommodates our wishes and that of our guests
and fits in with our overall theme.

where am I going to find a place in Los Angeles/Orange County/Inland Empire that fits those criteria??
good grief!
I'm trying not to panic.
Much calmer than I was yesterday for sure but still antsy none-the-less.
and praying.
Just praying for some clarity on to why this happened and what we can do to make this a positive situation.
until then......you can find me on the internet.....scouting locations.
again.

  2. Good Lord! You're right...that is something to panic about. But...the voice of reason here...you still have some time to find another totally rockin' place. It's okay! Maybe you'll find an even better place and will laugh at how you almost made the biggest mistake of your wedding...the Rancho Capistrano...bah!

  4. hey amber, was looking for an the post where you mentioned the location you chose, but i couldn't find it...i'm thinking it was mission style, outdoors? if so, you might wanna check out FranciscanGarndens.com My cousin had his wedding and reception there and it was beautiful, its in San Juan Capistron and can accomodate up to 200 guests. Not sure on the excact cost but he said they chose it because it was on the less expensive end of venues in san diego. They did have to use seperate vendors for things like flowers, linens etc. but it was really nice. E-mail me if you want and i can give you more info! ImRudeGirl@aol.com also, when you have a chance to breathe, remind me to tell you my nightmare pre-wedding story, i only had 2 weeks to recover!

  5. Oh no!!! Ambs, do you want to stay in Capistrano area? My girlfreind isgetting married at athe Franciscan Gardens and it is really pretty. Not sure if you have seen it or not or if it is even anything that you are looking for but I thought I'd throw it out there...and FYI we got married in Cancun and oh 2 montsh before our wedding the Huge Hurricane hit and wiped out most of the area including 1/2 of our hotel and beach location!...needless to say we had less palm trees but the wedding turned out BETTER than I could have ever imagined all due to PLAN B!!!! Hang in there!

  6. that's pretty bad. well, i can think of 2 locations at the top of my head. 3 actually. but the arboritum is probably best suited to what you may be looking for in a wedding location & don't worry, everything will work out the way it's supposed too. you don't have to have an answer to all your questions today. give it a couple days and do a lot of research in the mean time. it really doesn't matter where you get married in the end, just that you make the most of what you have together. don't let that negative energy set you back too far.
