sunday funday

Whew!
What a wonderful weekend!
I love love love this time of year and now that the turkey has been consumed I can now be surrounded by the wonderment and sparkle that is the "official" Christmas season!
I know many of you spent the long weekend lugging out your Christmas gear and cheer and getting into the Holiday spirit right?
Right?
Or not.
If you're like me, maybe you had every intention of doing so but then were distracted by the James Bond marathon.
Or just lazy and got stuck on the couch watching movies.
But that's okay, it just means I will do a little bit each day and get more and more inspired by a late evening trip to Target and the fabulous circular from Michael's!
And I can't wait to get it crackin this weekend with Sweet Pea to help and 'supervise' the tree assembly and ornament placement.
The kid's got an eye for style I tell ya!
But lets talk about today.
Today was one of those days when I looked at Babe and thought, 'Wow. He's amazing. How did I get so lucky?'
You see my dad is a bit of a pack rat
(understatement of the year people - the man has now filled three rooms of 'stuff' since my brother and I moved out approximately 10+ years ago and is single handedly keeping Costco in business)
Well he finally bought a new TV for the downstairs area and my loving fiance decided he would help him get his ish together.
So we made the trek down to the O.C where we proceeded to pack up 18 years of VHS tapes, phone cords and other miscellaneous crap into boxes.
Then my strapping man and Dad dragged the archaic entertainment center outside to either be sold on Craig's list or picked up by someone who could 'give it a good home'.
It was amazing.
I have never even seen the back wall in the den at my dad's.
Never.
My dad also has this wicked collection of Lladro figurines that used to sit on top of said entertainment center.
Talk about dusty!
Whew! No one has wiped those down in many a year.
So we took them all down and placed them lovingly on the table where Sweet Pea became fascinated by them.
She then decided they were too dusty to 'play with in her mind' (her words not mine)
and began to clean them off.
Y'all my baby cleaned 18 figurine with all the love and care of a mother wiping her baby's bottom ( ok probably not the best metaphor)
Those puppies were sparkling!
Fortunately the pack rat also had a fancy lil cabinet in the dining room meant to house such lovely things so when I made a food run
(thank you Volcano Burger!)
they began to arrange them on the shelves.
Voila! Beauty in a cabinet.
And then my poor somewhat OCD afflicted child proceeded to 'fix' them so that the rows were neat and they were properly sorted.
Sigh.
she is so my kid.
All in all it was a great day spent helping someone who really needed the motivation to just get started and now my dad has more space for the new TV, a better organized Lladro collection and we got the joy of spending some much needed QT.
So......how was your weekend?

black Friday Cinco preguntas

I don't know about y'all but I am in full on recovery mode today.
Yesterday I put on my leggings and a tunic and got my grub on!!!
Are y'all still stuffed too?
As usual there was an abundance of food and it seemed like the children started to mulitply after a few hours (seriously how do 5 kids sound like 25?)
But it was a great day spent with my wonderful (soon-to-be) in- laws as well as mi madre.

It's Black Friday and I know alot of y'all were up early hitting the sales or shopping online
while I got dressed to come to work.
but don't cry for me argentina......
cuz i'm getting all kinds of paid for working today so we can bring you great deals ALL the time and not just black Friday!

And since it is Friday you know that it's time for Mama M's Five Questions right?

The rules: copy the following questions to your blog, answer them, grab the McLinky blog hop code and link up!
Ohh and don't forget to link bak to Mama M.....it was HER idea after all!

so heeeeere we go!!!

1. Do you do a real or fake Christmas tree?

fake all the way.
not interested in cleaning up needles or having to water and it starts to die so quickly.....thats how fires start right?
no, I'll take a pre-lit faux tree anyday
2.
What is your favorite Christmas tradition with your family?

decorating the tree with Sweet Pea and baking.
it's something that my mom and I used to do and now I can share that with my kiddo too!
we love love love to bake and what better way to show love?
also since our tree is only about 4 feet tall its easier and more fun for her to decorate. she still likes to clump them together but we are working on that

3. Do you celebrate Thanksgiving in your neck of the woods? And, if so...how many calories do you think you consumed yesterday?

umm ...there were calories in that food? what?
we go BIG for thanksgiving, I'm talking 3 turkeys , a ham and prime rib + all the fixings ( what does that mean even).
and desserts yes. we really enjoy eating and as I said last week I pretty much eat like a bird all week long leading up to the blessed event so I can gorge myself.
thats what stretchy pants are for!

4. Have you started decorating for Christmas, yet?

well i'm working today so no.
but tomorrow -after I wake up.....i will pull out all the decor and get it going
since we are in a new place I kind of want to go with a different color scheme but we shall see how that works out for me.

5. What is your favorite Christmas cookie?
my mom used to make these phenomal candy cane type cookies and I can no longer find the recipe!!
such a bummer. but I also love snickerdoodles and making gingerbread.....mmmmm
ok now i'm gonna go home and bake myself silly.
thanks.

(Can you tell people are getting in the Christmas spirit?!!)

thanks!

since tomorrow is the BIG day of food and family I thought I would take a moment to mention what I'm thankful for. this has been an amazing year and I am so blessed and grateful for all that has occurred

my loving family. All of them. brother, sister in laws to be, cousins, god sisters etc....
through thick and thin they are there- supporting, encouraging and sometimes hitting me over the head with reasoning but its all love
graduation. finishing school was a HUGE thing for me this year and I am so glad its over and proud of myself for finishing what I started
Turning 30: I am so comfortable in my skin and where I'm at in my life. for the first time I feel like I have a grip on things and am really settled.
I like how that feels.
friends: for their unyielding love and relentless support
.
they are my rocks when I need a shoulder to lean on and my tissues when I am ready to cry
NEW friends: I'm at an age where I thought 'making new friends' wasn't important and something that would/could impact my life.
Blessedly I have and they have. I am so grateful
My Sweet Pea: She is my saving grace and the reason I get up each day.
She has such a loving heart and I thank God for blessing me with her
!
My Babe: he truly is my BEST friend. He loves me inspite of myself and his strenght and love amazes and inspires me daily
My job: It sounds corny but God knew exactly what He was doing (of course He did!) when He provided me with this opportunity.
We struggled for so long and I was so distruaght about my work situation and the Lord provided for me in a most wonderful way.
My God: for saving my soul. my life and giving me

and lastly FOOD:
what is this celebration without all the yummy eats?

What are YOU thankful for?

Have a Happy Thanksgiving y'all!!!

ohhh snap!

It's Monday all ready?

where the heck did the weekend go?

ohhh thats right.....we were BUSY.

that's why I have no recollection of Saturday or Sunday.

all those CapeCod's may have helped too.

Let me back up a minute lest you all think I am some sort of helpless lush.....

I completed my first week of work!!
Whoo hoo!!
And as I posted here, I really enjoyed it!
Saturday was guaranteed to be a busy day.
Sweet Pea had TWO birthday parties to attend and I was going to my Alumni Holiday Party with my bevy of beauties.
We started our day early at 10:30 ( that was hard) and headed off to Pump It Up! for party #1!
Since it was for our old neighbors and pool buddies I didn't have a problem dropping the kiddo off while I ran to get presents (this is what happens when I work all day, every day) for the birthday girls.
By the time I returned the kids were all jumped out and eating pizza but ready for cake!
Sweet Pea scored an awesome goodie bag and was blown away by......a slinky and silly putty of all things.
Thanks Davece and Olivia for inviting us!
We came home to rest (read mommy needed a nap ) and then it was off to party #2.
Malia's Sweet Shoppe.
Sundaes, root beer floats, cupcakes, pixie stix and more goodies galore!!!
ummm yeahhhh......
glad I wasn't the one watching all those sugared up kiddos!
All kinds of sugary goodness was scheduled and I knew the girls would have a blast.
And since I was meeting my beauty girls over that way, it was a family affair as we all rode together to the partay.

While I threw on MY party clothes, Babe took advantage of all the goodies and helped himself to a float. :)
Thanks Boo & Malia for inviting us!!!

Then it was off to the FIDM Alumni Holiday party.

Oh . boy.

I was able to hang out with all of my BGB's (thats Bad girls of Beauty - and by bad I mean good)

Can you say T-R-O-U-B-L-E???

AND there was an open bar.

Hence the vodka cranberries (CapeCod's).

I mean really who isn't going to take advantage of a hosted bar when
1) you're not driving
2) it's the holidays
3) you don't really go out
4) you get to celebrate having a job with all your friends
5) did I mention it was an open bar?
Needless to say we had a BLAST.
We giggled, we took pictures, talked a little trash about a few of the more questionably attired attendees and just had a good time!
of course I forgot my camera and had to rely on the other beauties to take pics.

But there was a photo booth that printed out pics and then displayed them on a 'jumbotron' like screen for the whole party to see.

It was AWESOME.
I poured myself into bed around 2am and slept like a toddler.
Sunday was church and we were up early for that even though I was dragging.......
but the message was good and just what I needed to hear.
Came home for a nap then off to The Rack to see what I could score in the way of 'work clothes'.
I ended up with some cute boots and will probably be going back for more!

(f.y.i. Nordstrom Rack is having a WICKED shoe sale right now)

I came home in enough time to whip up two pizzas and a salad and then it was off to bed!!

What a fabulously fuuuuun weekend!

Say whaaaat???!!!

Viva La Juicy!

I LOVE these girls!!!

What did YOU do this weekend?

it's friday y'all

and you know what that means.....
It's time to play 5 questions with the FABULOUS Mama M!
Whoo hooo!!

Here's the rules:
Copy and paste the following questions to your blog, answer the questions, grab the MckLinky Blog Hop code, and link up!
Then, hop around and check out other fabulous bloggers!
Oh, and...I'd love it if you'd link back to Mama M.!!

Don't have a blog but wanna join in?

Simply leave your answers in the comments!

Okay, here we go...

Questions for Friday, November 20th:
1. Are you a Black Friday shopper?

not so much....
since i really like to shop big crowds and ish everywhere make me really uncomfortable. sad but true.
although i do have delusions of standing outside of Target one day at the crack of dawn and scoring some sort of wonderous appliance for like $5. all the while knocking down old ladies if they get in my way.....

2. What was your favorite childhood toy? (Think Easy Bake Oven, Cabbage Patch Kid, Shrinky Dinks, etc.)

aww - well i loved all my dolls. cabbage patch, barbie and otherwise.
I had a plethora of Cabbage Patch dolls and now my Sweet Pea is the proud owner.
She has since removed all their clothes and is impressed by the signature on their butts.

3. Favorite Christmas movie?

"A Christmas story" hands down. (you'll shoot your eye out!) and Elf. I love Elf. it's my faaaaavorite
I mean it's a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th street are great but those two? PRICELESS.

4. What is the "must have" item on your Christmas list this year?

ohh so many things. and with the new job the options are endless. but really, I want some new boots. And a Wii. And gift cards. And a new wallet.
A kitchen aid mixer would be nice too.....
okay so thats more than one item....but how's a girl supposed to choose just ONE!

5. Do you go all out with decorations or do you keep it simple and classy?
Little bit of both. I love Christmas.
The twinkle of the lights. all the sparkles (any excuse to wear sequins and glitter right?)
but for decor I usually go more understated. nothing super fancy but since it was me & Sweet Pea for awhile all our decorations are REALLY girly ( think shoe & dress ornaments in shades of purple and pink)
This year I think I'm gonna go with a purple and silver type theme - just to be different but we'll see!

All right folks....YOUR turn!
Ready , set, gooooo!!!

oh and happy Friday!

ensembles

As promised here are my ensembles for the past two days.....

Tuesday

Monday - had to get my FAB boots in there!

Thanks Mom for the dress!!!
Do I look like a grown up?

the first day....

I've gotten numerous emails, texts and FB wall posts inquiring as to how my first day was.......

First I have to say THANKS for all your well wishes, thoughts and prayers.
It has meant so much to be inundated with all this LOVE!
you all are A-MAZ-ING!!!!

Can I just say that I have been working since I was 18 and never have I had such a wonderful first day of work.
Interesting and confusing yes.
Wonderful, not so much.
It was absolutely fabulous.
The staff is very friendly and welcoming.
Trendy and cutely dressed I fit right in with my shift dress, tights and FAB ankle boots
(thanks Rach for the coupon!)
I get to put my OCD into action each day and am appluaded for it and that makes my heart sing!

Around 2:30 I did get a little sleepy as I had been up since the CRACK of dawn but a quick trip to the bathroom and a few skittles remedied that real quick!

I accomplished quite a bit and my boss commended me on a job well done for my first day!

I can tell I'm going to L-O-V-E working here.

Now I know you all want to see a pic of the outfit but alas - I left my card reader at home and can't upload it from here.
But as soon as I get home tonight I will post with today's and yesterday's ensembles and you tell me what YOU think!

The begining of everything

Tomorrow everything changes.
Tomorrow I take the first steps to begin my career in the beauty industry.
Tomorrow is going to be a challenge but one I have been looking forward to for a long time.
Tomorrow is the first day of everything!
Today I have been a crazy person, running around trying to make sure everyone has what they need for the coming week.
Trying to explain to Sweet Pea why Granna is now picking her up and how she will have to be brave and (gasp) walk to the flag pole in front of school for pick up.
she cried.
Today, I am looking for the 'perfect' outfit for my first day.
I'm planning meals, doing laundry and trying to rest a bit too.
Today I am basking in the little things and trying not to let tomorrow worry me.

I have to admit I'm a little nervous.
Not so much about the actual job because I'm pretty confident that I can do a great job.
No I'm nervous about how my family will adjust to this change.
We have spent months praying for a job for me.
Now that it happened and it's here, are we ready?
There will be no more baking and a movie Thursdays with Sweet Pea.
No more Mommy whipping up a gourmet dinner by 6pm (I'll just be leaving work)
No Mommy getting Sweet Pea up and together in the morning
( I will have left before she gets up)
Not a lot of quality time in evening as everything will have to be prepared for the next day.
I can feel the lump rising in my throat.
It's a transition period and those are always hard.
I know it will get easier.
I know my family will be okay and no worse for the wear but I wouldn't be a mother
(or soon -to-be wife)
if I wasn't the least bit concerned about their adjustment.
But I am ready.
I asked for this
the Lord answered my prayers
and I am ready to answer the call.
I am blessed to be able to have this opportunity and can't wait to see how it all pans out.
So tomorrow, while you go about your regular day, if you happen to think of me,
please say a prayer for us.
We are going through a change and could use your support.
Thanks!!!
I will let you know how it goes!

Friday = question day!!!

Just like last week I am linking up with MamaM for 5 Question Friday.
Link your blog below and play along and if you don't have a blog just answer the questions in comments!!

1. What is your favorite "eat" on Thanksgiving?
Since the whole day is centered around food and I pretty much save up all my calories for this one day it's pretty hard to choose, but I would have to say mac'n cheese and candied yams or whipped sweet potatoes.
both of those are so yummy and such comfort foods my mouth is watering right now thinking about them!
2. What is the name your best girl friend and the best trait about her or how you met (or heck, both!!)
well i have two besties - Michelle and I met in high school , we bonded over a love of "whoomp there it is" and have been hanging out ever since. she is brutally honest and loves me despite al my faults.
the other one -Mia (a.KIA Pie) we met in college where we were thrown together as roommates. Best thing CAU ever did.
It was love at first sight. We ate many a chips and salsa for dinner, met tons of boys and partied like rock stars.....sigh those were the days! she is an amazing stand up chica who has ALWAYS been there and will fight like a lion for those she loves.
I admire her passion.
3. What would you say is one of your "weirdest" quirks?
WOW. this is hard.
We all know I'm a bit 'different' and I have so many idiosyncrasies it's hard to keep track!
i have to have one ear covered while I sleep. I will wake up out of a sound sleep if it somehow escapes and if Babe pulls the sheets it throws me off.
I also have to have my bed made each day.
I don't care if I make it two minutes before I go to sleep but I cannot get into an unmade bed.
something about the wrinkled sheets bother me.
4. What is your favorite genre of music? (Hip hop? Classical? Rock? etc.)
I like most music with the exception of really hard rock.
But being a product of my generation I would have to say hip -hop and pop music are my fav's.
Simply because those genres stir up such strong memories, get me to tappin my foot and wanting to shake my groove thing!
5. Are you a Night Owl...or an Early Bird?
definitely a night owl. once I'm up I'm up. but I am NOT happy about it.
I get my best ideas in the evening, write the most profound and prolific things and then by the morning am confused at why I was so brilliant at 2am but am stupid from 7 am to about noon.
Happy Friday Everyone!

Thought for Thursday

Yesterday my future M.I.L brought over some magazines for me since she knows
a) I like to read
b) I like to collage and have run out of new magazines
c) I don't buy them like I used to
So last night I was flipping through the Glamour for this month and was blown away by the editor's note.
Apparently last month they ran the photo above of 'plus-size' model Lizzie Miller nearly naked. They were inundated with mail.
Not because of the nudity.
But for the simple fact that in the photo you can see her belly roll.
Something most women only see at home and (let alone models) deny exists.
Women and men alike were extolling them for their efforts at showcasing REAL women.
Let me just say that my heart skipped a beat when I read this.
First off, kudos to Glamour's editor-in-chief Cindi Lieve for being committed to photographing women of all body types!
What a great example you are setting for our society and for the young girls that read your magazine! Hats off to you!
A beauty and fashion magazine showing that there is more to beauty than just a pretty face and flat stomach.
Second, it got me to thinking about how much our society focuses on body image and how in recent years those images have become contradictory to each other.
How is a woman supposed to keep up when one minute stick skinny is 'fashion' and the next 'curves are the new black'?
I'm also excited for my little girl.
I don't want her to grow up and be self concious about her size.
Ever.
Yeah thats wishful thinking but I feel like if I instill it into her head now that she's beautiful no matter what size, shape her body is - when she's a teenager she will be more comfortable in her own skin.
Now, I know I talk about working out and my weight but it's not from a 'need for acceptance' or anything.
I do it to maintain my health and I feel better when I do.
Yeah I want to look good in a bathing suit but my world will not come to an end if I have an extra roll or dimple than I did at 21.
It's high time we changed the way women see themselves and how society perceives what is beautiful, sexy and healthy.
So way to go Glamour!!!
So my challenge to you is the same one that's in the magazine , finish this sentence:
"My Body Is........."
- the catch? you can't say anything negative.
I'll go first.
My Body Is....
a work of art, a gift from God and a creator of life.
I've only got the one and I want to make it last! It is meant to be loved, caressed and admired.
It was made to 'shake what my momma gave me' like a fool and enjoy the movement of my limbs. My body is a temple and I will treat it accordingly.
Your turn!

drumroll please

Well as you all know I have been searching for a job for quite some time.
I've posted here, here and here about how I was struggling with the fact that I was having interviews but nothing was coming from them.
It has been a weight on my shoulders as we have only had one income for the last 1.5 years.
I have been praying daily for something to give , anything to get my foot in the door so I can 'get back out there'.
So you can imagine the level of not getting one's hopes up when I was asked to have a phone interview yesterday morning.
At 8 a.m. no less.
But I had a lovely chat with the woman from HR and she scheduled me for an interview this morning at 11:30 a.m.
Not wanting to get my hopes up - I conveyed mild excitement to Babe and went in with a positive attitude and a great sense of humor.
I met with three individuals at once
(firing squad anyone?)
And they all seemed lovely and like they enjoyed their work and working together which is super important to me.
Fortunately for me, humor and hardwork was what they were looking for.
At approximately 4pm this afternoon I recieved a phone call from the lovely Kate and they offered me a position!!!!!
I start Monday!!
OHHH EMMM GEEEE!!!!
I am over the moon!
Like. SERIOUSLY.
I cannot contain my enthusiasm or excitement.
kind of want to come out of my skin too.
So as of Monday 11/16/09 I will be a Production Coordinator for HauteLook.com.
They are an e-tailer that hosts daily sample sales on select designer brands.
Check out the link here:
http://www.hautelook.com/invite/aconley958
I am just so excited for this opportunity and am thanking God for bringing it. I also would like to thank all of my family and friends who have put up with me bemoaning my situation and for praying for me as well. You all are such an encouraging force in my life.
There are really no words. And of course, my absolutely fabulous, wonderful, kind, supportive and caring fiance. Babe,
you have taken on the role of bread winner for our family without a second thought. You have gone above and beyond to make sure Sweet Pea and I have all that we need and manage to get us some of what we want! I love you so much for that and for always being there, encouraging me and telling me it will be okay when I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks to all my faithful readers who have been right there with me and also to those who may be facing a similar struggle:
Be encouraged and of good faith.
God is watching over you and has a plan.
He will provide in His time and when He does it will be right on time!

Game ON!!!

so because I am somewhat of a walking thesauras,
(and we are SUCH goobers)
Babe and I play this silly little game amongst ourselves.
We will use a word like 'money' for example and come up with as many synonyms as possible.
it goes a little like this.
Babe: Do you have any money?
Me: Some scrilla?
Him: Scratch
Me: bread
Him: dough
Me: cheddar
Him: duckets
Me: cheese
Him: paper
and on it goes..........
So we were doing this while eating lunch with our friends the Johnsons and they joined in the fun!
That got my wheels turning about games like Scattergories, Outburst and Taboo.
So I said to myself: Self, we should host a game night!!!!
But lets do it one better and make it a DATE NIGHT too!!!
(Sometimes myself comes up with REALLY good ideas.........)
That way we can get a break from the kiddos,
relax and have fun!!!
All of our couple friends love to play games already so I think maybe I will just have to sit myself down, look at the calendar and put together the evite!
And this time:
NO Women vs. Men.
Couples /teams only, less stress this way.......
(too many fights have begun cuz hubby didn't like the way wifey was pushing the buzzer on taboo)
If everyone can come it will FAB!
but if not, no worries, it can be re-scheduled for a less hectic time!

I am SO looking forward to it!

Sweet Sunday

Today was a GREAT day.
I am feeling so good right now I don't even really have the words to articulate.
Let me start by saying that while I am a believer I have not been to church in over a year.
OK, maybe 2 years.
(go ahead and judge a little, it's okay - I'll wait)
Partially because I have a bit of an issue with the whole fakeness and hypocrisy that sometimes comes along with it and partially because I haven't really found a church that I felt spoke to ME.
As I kid I went to the church my parents did, visited my grandparents and went to theirs, stayed over with girlfriends and went to theirs.
But it never really felt right for me.
The message always seemed a little out of date and like something was missing.
So I haven't gone.
But I do my own devotions and have a few places I go online to look up the Word for the week so I was getting through.
However, lately, I just feel as though things are out of whack and was really needing my spiritual fruit.
Like. Seriously.
For Halloween we went to the Fall Family Fest at Abundant Living Family Church and really enjoyed ourselves.
A couple of our friends go there and while it's not super close to our house, it's closer than any other place.
AND it has been vetted by our friends, so I kind of knew I didn't have to wonder if this Pastor was going to be preaching the word or just talkin out of his butt.
So we went.
All three of us.
And it felt good.
This is kind of a major thing because Babe was raised Jehovah's witness,
and (sad to say) both of us are lacking in being 'active' in our faith.
We have never been to church together.
Sure we go to the Kingdom Hall once a year for "The Memorial" which is their Easter
(their focus seems to be more on his death than the resurrection) but that's about it.
It was good for us to go as a family
Sweet Pea enjoyed her classroom, participated and even made a few 'friends'.
For us it felt good to have friends there already made it that much easier to go into a foreign place and listen to God's word.
There is nothing worse than feeling like a convicted /lapsed Christian among strangers
(yes they are brothers & sisters in Christ but you know what I mean)
So now I'm fired up & ready to go!
I used to feel like this regularly when I was in high school but I guess going to a Christian high-school, having chapel once a week, Bible daily and prayers in each class will do that to you!
What did you do today?

5 questions on Friday

As I said earlier, T.G.I.F y'all!!!
It has been a long week! And I am definitely ready for the weekend!
Today I found a new blog that I think is super cute. Elizabeth's blog Confessions of a Working Mom is funny and honest. She too has a mild case of OCD that I totally understand and has already given me some great ideas!
She is linking up to play Five Question Friday on Mama M's blog and I thought I'd play along because..... well I like to answer survey questions .....
so hope you play along!

1. What is your dream job?

As I am in the process of finding a job to begin my career in the Beauty Industry that's kind of a tough one.... there are so many facets that I find interesting. I would like to review products as
a beauty editor/beauty journalist for a magazine like Allure or In Style. I love to write ( as evidenced here) and I love makeup - to be able to write about it and get paid for it? Say whaaaat??!!! that would be simply divine!
I would also like to work on the marketing side of the industry. I'm completely fascinated by the campaigns that are put together and loved being able to do that with past projects.
2. What song could you play over and over?
welll I never really thought about - there is SO much music I like!
I guess I would have to say "Turn Your Lights Down Low" by Bob Marley, featuring Lauryn Hill.
That is one of my all time favorite love songs. I can see myself in a cabana just of the beach, with the warm candle light glowing behind me as the sun sets and my Babe singing to me from below....ok not really singing. but it makes me feel all wrapped up in love and I dig that.

3. Do you prefer to talk on the phone or text (or email)?
hmm- while I am quite chatty and will yuk it up on the phone for hours, I don't really have the personal 'quiet' space to do so all the time. (i.e. I live with people who over hear) I miss that.
Sweet Pea has gotten exceptionally noisy with the "who are you talking to?" questions. I try to limit those conversations to when she's in school or asleep.
Texting is great but can be misconstrued and when you live in the shoddy coverage area it's kind of a waste. email is good if the person is far away/ has a hectic schedule. I always feel it's a nice way to catch up with people.
Also, you can sometimes say things via email you couldn't face to face or over the phone....

4. What is your must have beauty product?
Mascara and lip balm. Cannot. live. without them.
seriously. I LOVE all makeup ( that's twice I've said that) and wear it everyday. Especially mascara and lip balm. Even if I am not going anywhere I will put that on ' just to brighten up a little' ;)
My favorites are Maybelline Define-a-lash, Too Faced Lash Injection, Rosebud salve Lip balm and C.O. Bigelow's - pretty much all of them but love the cinnamon & raspberry too!

5. What is your favorite Michael Jackson song?
PYT hands down. no matter what I'm doing when I hear it I stop and dance.
That is MY song! It reminds me of the days when I used to go dancing all the time and that was one of my fav's to hear! Now it's just on my Ipod dance mix for when I work out and clean the house......

TGIF - like nobody's business

Today is Friday!

Whoo Hoo!!!

That means I'm linking up over at Home Sanctuary for Coffee this morning!

Since I don't actually drink coffee this virtual cup will have to suffice!

This has been one of those weeks where I have a LOT on my 'to-do' list but can't seem to nail most of it down.

I noticed that I have accomplished a few menial tasks but have been procrastinating on the 'big' stuff. not that it's really big stuff but these are items that have been moved, pushed back, or put off for at least a month.

I'm a procrastinator.

Sue me.

It's a creative thing.

So anyway.
I have had a hard time this week really 'focusing' ya know?

On everything.
there were no major snafu's no one was late or forgotten, no one missed out on a lunch or activity but I just feel as though I have somehow fallen short.
I have some projects I started but have yet to complete.
A 'to-do' list that seems to grow longer by the minute and all I want to do is sit and read.
So today I will.
Sweet Pea has music lessons after school so I will take that time to run to the library and pick myself up a little sumthin , sumthin to tide me over this evening.
Then Monday morning,
bright and early,
I will begin anew.

Have a good weekend!

thought for thursday

Daily Bible Verse
Romans 12:15
Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
That is my verse today and I thought it was pretty poignant.
Especially in these trying times.
God's way is to enter into the joys and sorrows of those around us.
Meaning be happy for that friend who is happily celebrating her new home purchase, or the family member who got that job she's been praying for and rejoice with her.
Happily.
Not begrudgingly and with the thought "how come stuff like that doesn't happy to me?"
And when our friends are suffering we shouldn't turn and hide from them.
we need to embrace their mourning and mourn with them.
Then look for ways to help them out.
This verse really hit home for me today and I will be doing my best to apply it to my life in the coming weeks.

November goals

It's a brand new month and one month closer to the end of the year.

That usually gets everyone to thinking about resolutions and goals.

So my friend Rachel Anne over at HOME SANCTUARY gave us all a challenge this month to set one goal and follow through.

I have been thinking about this for a few days now.

I am all about setting goals but my follow through sucks. ( I can honestly admit that now)

So I was puttering through the house this morning and started thinking about goals I would like to set and accomplish FOR SURE this month.

Like, Has. to. be. done.

type stuff.

So I came up with 3 major things:

1) I really want to better organize the papers that come into this house. From Sweet Pea's school work, to bills, recipes and appliance instructions.
So I need an organization system for ALL of that.
Any suggestions? How do you all deal with the paper clutter?

2) I posted this about how I was feeling about my weight and what all is going on with the food situation in my house. So my goal #2 is to stay committed to doing the "Shred" for the next 30 days and see how that works out. I have a tendency to start strong with programs like this , then falter and then pick it back up toward the end.
Hopefully now that I have put it out there I will stay true to it.
* please feel free to ask me how it's coming and I will be convicted if I've been lagging*

3) Getting a household cleaning schedule and chore list set up.
I'm so lame. I have received so much good advice for setting up a cleaning schedule but have yet to put it on paper or implement it.
( do u see a trend in procrastination maybe?)
No time like the present 'eh?

So those are my November goals.
Hopefully in 30 days I will look back on them and feel accomplished instead of chagrined.
Wish me luck!

Happy Birthday!

There are several birthdays happening this week and I wanted to shout them out now so I don't forget!
First, my darling B.F. Niki had a birthday on Tuesday and got the surprise of her life when her mom (who lives in Virginia) showed up at the door Friday evening!
Finally I got to meet Mama Jan (as I call her)!
I've known Nik for about 5 years and since we met I have had a friendship with her mother just as much as I have her!
So this was a great present for me too!
LOL!
Happy Birthday my Darling Niki!
You are such a joy!
I'm so blessed to have you as a friend and call you neighbor!
What a wonderful blessing you are to all that are around you and to your family.
Thanks for being MY friend and for being so fabulous!!

This weekend - will celebrate the birthdays of a few others.
My wonderfully, charming and enigmatic older brother will be celebrating his 34th birthday!
Two good friends from the BCHS days will be celebrating their 30 &31st birthdays respectively!
And my 'lil boyfriend' Dylan will be a whopping 8 years old on Saturday as well!
Also - my Beauty BFF will be celebrating her 22nd on the 13th and my good friend Megs (aka Megan the lipgloss junkie) will have hers on the 14th!
I'm only posting this now as we have another party to go to on Saturday for one of the kiddos in Sweet Pea's class!!!
So excited to check out Pump it Up! and see what they have for the kiddos!
Happy Birthday to all my Scorpio's out there!
