Yesterday I put on my leggings and a tunic and got my grub on!!!
Are y'all still stuffed too?
As usual there was an abundance of food and it seemed like the children started to mulitply after a few hours (seriously how do 5 kids sound like 25?)
But it was a great day spent with my wonderful (soon-to-be) in- laws as well as mi madre.
It's Black Friday and I know alot of y'all were up early hitting the sales or shopping online
while I got dressed to come to work.
but don't cry for me argentina......
cuz i'm getting all kinds of paid for working today so we can bring you great deals ALL the time and not just black Friday!
The rules: copy the following questions to your blog, answer them, grab the McLinky blog hop code and link up!
Ohh and don't forget to link bak to Mama M.....it was HER idea after all!
so heeeeere we go!!!
1. Do you do a real or fake Christmas tree?
fake all the way.
not interested in cleaning up needles or having to water and it starts to die so quickly.....thats how fires start right?
no, I'll take a pre-lit faux tree anyday
2. What is your favorite Christmas tradition with your family?
decorating the tree with Sweet Pea and baking.
it's something that my mom and I used to do and now I can share that with my kiddo too!
we love love love to bake and what better way to show love?
also since our tree is only about 4 feet tall its easier and more fun for her to decorate. she still likes to clump them together but we are working on that
3. Do you celebrate Thanksgiving in your neck of the woods? And, if so...how many calories do you think you consumed yesterday?
umm ...there were calories in that food? what?
we go BIG for thanksgiving, I'm talking 3 turkeys , a ham and prime rib + all the fixings ( what does that mean even).
and desserts yes. we really enjoy eating and as I said last week I pretty much eat like a bird all week long leading up to the blessed event so I can gorge myself.
thats what stretchy pants are for!
4. Have you started decorating for Christmas, yet?
well i'm working today so no.
but tomorrow -after I wake up.....i will pull out all the decor and get it going
since we are in a new place I kind of want to go with a different color scheme but we shall see how that works out for me.
5. What is your favorite Christmas cookie?
my mom used to make these phenomal candy cane type cookies and I can no longer find the recipe!!
such a bummer. but I also love snickerdoodles and making gingerbread.....mmmmm
ok now i'm gonna go home and bake myself silly.
(Can you tell people are getting in the Christmas spirit?!!)

my loving family. All of them. brother, sister in laws to be, cousins, god sisters etc....
through thick and thin they are there- supporting, encouraging and sometimes hitting me over the head with reasoning but its all love
graduation. finishing school was a HUGE thing for me this year and I am so glad its over and proud of myself for finishing what I started
Turning 30: I am so comfortable in my skin and where I'm at in my life. for the first time I feel like I have a grip on things and am really settled.
I like how that feels.
friends: for their unyielding love and relentless support.
they are my rocks when I need a shoulder to lean on and my tissues when I am ready to cry
NEW friends: I'm at an age where I thought 'making new friends' wasn't important and something that would/could impact my life.
Blessedly I have and they have. I am so grateful
My Sweet Pea: She is my saving grace and the reason I get up each day.
She has such a loving heart and I thank God for blessing me with her!
My Babe: he truly is my BEST friend. He loves me inspite of myself and his strenght and love amazes and inspires me daily
My job: It sounds corny but God knew exactly what He was doing (of course He did!) when He provided me with this opportunity.
We struggled for so long and I was so distruaght about my work situation and the Lord provided for me in a most wonderful way.
My God: for saving my soul. my life and giving me
and lastly FOOD:
what is this celebration without all the yummy eats?
What are YOU thankful for?
Have a Happy Thanksgiving y'all!!!

Let me back up a minute lest you all think I am some sort of helpless lush.....
I completed my first week of work!!
And as I posted here, I really enjoyed it!
Saturday was guaranteed to be a busy day.
Sweet Pea had TWO birthday parties to attend and I was going to my Alumni Holiday Party with my bevy of beauties.
We started our day early at 10:30 ( that was hard) and headed off to Pump It Up! for party #1!
Since it was for our old neighbors and pool buddies I didn't have a problem dropping the kiddo off while I ran to get presents (this is what happens when I work all day, every day) for the birthday girls.
By the time I returned the kids were all jumped out and eating pizza but ready for cake!
Sweet Pea scored an awesome goodie bag and was blown away by......a slinky and silly putty of all things.
Thanks Davece and Olivia for inviting us!
We came home to rest (read mommy needed a nap ) and then it was off to party #2.
Malia's Sweet Shoppe.
Sundaes, root beer floats, cupcakes, pixie stix and more goodies galore!!!
All kinds of sugary goodness was scheduled and I knew the girls would have a blast.
And since I was meeting my beauty girls over that way, it was a family affair as we all rode together to the partay.
While I threw on MY party clothes, Babe took advantage of all the goodies and helped himself to a float. :)
Then it was off to the FIDM Alumni Holiday party.
Oh . boy.
Can you say T-R-O-U-B-L-E???
AND there was an open bar.
Hence the vodka cranberries (CapeCod's).
I mean really who isn't going to take advantage of a hosted bar when
1) you're not driving
2) it's the holidays
3) you don't really go out
4) you get to celebrate having a job with all your friends
5) did I mention it was an open bar?
Needless to say we had a BLAST.
We giggled, we took pictures, talked a little trash about a few of the more questionably attired attendees and just had a good time!
of course I forgot my camera and had to rely on the other beauties to take pics.
I poured myself into bed around 2am and slept like a toddler.
Sunday was church and we were up early for that even though I was dragging.......
but the message was good and just what I needed to hear.
Came home for a nap then off to The Rack to see what I could score in the way of 'work clothes'.
I ended up with some cute boots and will probably be going back for more!
(f.y.i. Nordstrom Rack is having a WICKED shoe sale right now)

Don't have a blog but wanna join in?
Simply leave your answers in the comments!
Okay, here we go...
Questions for Friday, November 20th:
1. Are you a Black Friday shopper?
not so much....
since i really like to shop big crowds and ish everywhere make me really uncomfortable. sad but true.
although i do have delusions of standing outside of Target one day at the crack of dawn and scoring some sort of wonderous appliance for like $5. all the while knocking down old ladies if they get in my way.....
2. What was your favorite childhood toy? (Think Easy Bake Oven, Cabbage Patch Kid, Shrinky Dinks, etc.)
aww - well i loved all my dolls. cabbage patch, barbie and otherwise.
I had a plethora of Cabbage Patch dolls and now my Sweet Pea is the proud owner.
She has since removed all their clothes and is impressed by the signature on their butts.
3. Favorite Christmas movie?
"A Christmas story" hands down. (you'll shoot your eye out!) and Elf. I love Elf. it's my faaaaavorite
I mean it's a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th street are great but those two? PRICELESS.
4. What is the "must have" item on your Christmas list this year?
ohh so many things. and with the new job the options are endless. but really, I want some new boots. And a Wii. And gift cards. And a new wallet.
A kitchen aid mixer would be nice too.....
okay so thats more than one item....but how's a girl supposed to choose just ONE!
5. Do you go all out with decorations or do you keep it simple and classy?
Little bit of both. I love Christmas.
The twinkle of the lights. all the sparkles (any excuse to wear sequins and glitter right?)
but for decor I usually go more understated. nothing super fancy but since it was me & Sweet Pea for awhile all our decorations are REALLY girly ( think shoe & dress ornaments in shades of purple and pink)
This year I think I'm gonna go with a purple and silver type theme - just to be different but we'll see!
All right folks....YOUR turn!
Ready , set, gooooo!!!
oh and happy Friday!

First I have to say THANKS for all your well wishes, thoughts and prayers.
It has meant so much to be inundated with all this LOVE!
you all are A-MAZ-ING!!!!
Can I just say that I have been working since I was 18 and never have I had such a wonderful first day of work.
Interesting and confusing yes.
Wonderful, not so much.
It was absolutely fabulous.
The staff is very friendly and welcoming.
Trendy and cutely dressed I fit right in with my shift dress, tights and FAB ankle boots
(thanks Rach for the coupon!)
I get to put my OCD into action each day and am appluaded for it and that makes my heart sing!
Around 2:30 I did get a little sleepy as I had been up since the CRACK of dawn but a quick trip to the bathroom and a few skittles remedied that real quick!
I accomplished quite a bit and my boss commended me on a job well done for my first day!
I can tell I'm going to L-O-V-E working here.
Now I know you all want to see a pic of the outfit but alas - I left my card reader at home and can't upload it from here.
But as soon as I get home tonight I will post with today's and yesterday's ensembles and you tell me what YOU think!

Tomorrow I take the first steps to begin my career in the beauty industry.
Tomorrow is going to be a challenge but one I have been looking forward to for a long time.
Tomorrow is the first day of everything!
Today I have been a crazy person, running around trying to make sure everyone has what they need for the coming week.
Trying to explain to Sweet Pea why Granna is now picking her up and how she will have to be brave and (gasp) walk to the flag pole in front of school for pick up.
Today, I am looking for the 'perfect' outfit for my first day.
I'm planning meals, doing laundry and trying to rest a bit too.
I have to admit I'm a little nervous.
Not so much about the actual job because I'm pretty confident that I can do a great job.
No I'm nervous about how my family will adjust to this change.
We have spent months praying for a job for me.
Now that it happened and it's here, are we ready?
There will be no more baking and a movie Thursdays with Sweet Pea.
No more Mommy whipping up a gourmet dinner by 6pm (I'll just be leaving work)
No Mommy getting Sweet Pea up and together in the morning
Not a lot of quality time in evening as everything will have to be prepared for the next day.
I can feel the lump rising in my throat.
It's a transition period and those are always hard.

Yesterday my future M.I.L brought over some magazines for me since she knows
Let me just say that my heart skipped a beat when I read this.
First off, kudos to Glamour's editor-in-chief Cindi Lieve for being committed to photographing women of all body types!
Second, it got me to thinking about how much our society focuses on body image and how in recent years those images have become contradictory to each other.
How is a woman supposed to keep up when one minute stick skinny is 'fashion' and the next 'curves are the new black'?
I'm also excited for my little girl.
Yeah thats wishful thinking but I feel like if I instill it into her head now that she's beautiful no matter what size, shape her body is - when she's a teenager she will be more comfortable in her own skin.
So my challenge to you is the same one that's in the magazine , finish this sentence:

Well as you all know I have been searching for a job for quite some time.
I've posted here, here and here about how I was struggling with the fact that I was having interviews but nothing was coming from them.
It has been a weight on my shoulders as we have only had one income for the last 1.5 years.
I have been praying daily for something to give , anything to get my foot in the door so I can 'get back out there'.
So you can imagine the level of not getting one's hopes up when I was asked to have a phone interview yesterday morning.
At 8 a.m. no less.
But I had a lovely chat with the woman from HR and she scheduled me for an interview this morning at 11:30 a.m.
Not wanting to get my hopes up - I conveyed mild excitement to Babe and went in with a positive attitude and a great sense of humor.
I met with three individuals at once
(firing squad anyone?)
And they all seemed lovely and like they enjoyed their work and working together which is super important to me.
Fortunately for me, humor and hardwork was what they were looking for.
At approximately 4pm this afternoon I recieved a phone call from the lovely Kate and they offered me a position!!!!!
I start Monday!!
OHHH EMMM GEEEE!!!!
I am over the moon!
I cannot contain my enthusiasm or excitement.
kind of want to come out of my skin too.
So as of Monday 11/16/09 I will be a Production Coordinator for HauteLook.com.
They are an e-tailer that hosts daily sample sales on select designer brands.
Check out the link here:
I am just so excited for this opportunity and am thanking God for bringing it. I also would like to thank all of my family and friends who have put up with me bemoaning my situation and for praying for me as well. You all are such an encouraging force in my life.
There are really no words. And of course, my absolutely fabulous, wonderful, kind, supportive and caring fiance. Babe,
you have taken on the role of bread winner for our family without a second thought. You have gone above and beyond to make sure Sweet Pea and I have all that we need and manage to get us some of what we want! I love you so much for that and for always being there, encouraging me and telling me it will be okay when I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks to all my faithful readers who have been right there with me and also to those who may be facing a similar struggle:
Be encouraged and of good faith.
God is watching over you and has a plan.
He will provide in His time and when He does it will be right on time!

so because I am somewhat of a walking thesauras,
(and we are SUCH goobers)
Babe and I play this silly little game amongst ourselves.
We will use a word like 'money' for example and come up with as many synonyms as possible.
it goes a little like this.
Babe: Do you have any money?
Me: Some scrilla?
and on it goes..........
So we were doing this while eating lunch with our friends the Johnsons and they joined in the fun!
That got my wheels turning about games like Scattergories, Outburst and Taboo.
So I said to myself: Self, we should host a game night!!!!
But lets do it one better and make it a DATE NIGHT too!!!
(Sometimes myself comes up with REALLY good ideas.........)
That way we can get a break from the kiddos,
relax and have fun!!!
All of our couple friends love to play games already so I think maybe I will just have to sit myself down, look at the calendar and put together the evite!
And this time:
NO Women vs. Men.
Couples /teams only, less stress this way.......
(too many fights have begun cuz hubby didn't like the way wifey was pushing the buzzer on taboo)
If everyone can come it will FAB!
but if not, no worries, it can be re-scheduled for a less hectic time!

1. What is your dream job?
As I am in the process of finding a job to begin my career in the Beauty Industry that's kind of a tough one.... there are so many facets that I find interesting. I would like to review products as
a beauty editor/beauty journalist for a magazine like Allure or In Style. I love to write ( as evidenced here) and I love makeup - to be able to write about it and get paid for it? Say whaaaat??!!! that would be simply divine!
I would also like to work on the marketing side of the industry. I'm completely fascinated by the campaigns that are put together and loved being able to do that with past projects.
2. What song could you play over and over?
welll I never really thought about - there is SO much music I like!
I guess I would have to say "Turn Your Lights Down Low" by Bob Marley, featuring Lauryn Hill.
That is one of my all time favorite love songs. I can see myself in a cabana just of the beach, with the warm candle light glowing behind me as the sun sets and my Babe singing to me from below....ok not really singing. but it makes me feel all wrapped up in love and I dig that.
3. Do you prefer to talk on the phone or text (or email)?
hmm- while I am quite chatty and will yuk it up on the phone for hours, I don't really have the personal 'quiet' space to do so all the time. (i.e. I live with people who over hear) I miss that.
Sweet Pea has gotten exceptionally noisy with the "who are you talking to?" questions. I try to limit those conversations to when she's in school or asleep.
Texting is great but can be misconstrued and when you live in the shoddy coverage area it's kind of a waste. email is good if the person is far away/ has a hectic schedule. I always feel it's a nice way to catch up with people.
Also, you can sometimes say things via email you couldn't face to face or over the phone....
4. What is your must have beauty product?
Mascara and lip balm. Cannot. live. without them.
seriously. I LOVE all makeup ( that's twice I've said that) and wear it everyday. Especially mascara and lip balm. Even if I am not going anywhere I will put that on ' just to brighten up a little' ;)
My favorites are Maybelline Define-a-lash, Too Faced Lash Injection, Rosebud salve Lip balm and C.O. Bigelow's - pretty much all of them but love the cinnamon & raspberry too!
5. What is your favorite Michael Jackson song?
PYT hands down. no matter what I'm doing when I hear it I stop and dance.
That is MY song! It reminds me of the days when I used to go dancing all the time and that was one of my fav's to hear! Now it's just on my Ipod dance mix for when I work out and clean the house......
Link up below and play along!
That means I'm linking up over at Home Sanctuary for Coffee this morning!
Since I don't actually drink coffee this virtual cup will have to suffice!
This has been one of those weeks where I have a LOT on my 'to-do' list but can't seem to nail most of it down.
I noticed that I have accomplished a few menial tasks but have been procrastinating on the 'big' stuff. not that it's really big stuff but these are items that have been moved, pushed back, or put off for at least a month.
I'm a procrastinator.
It's a creative thing.
I have had a hard time this week really 'focusing' ya know?
there were no major snafu's no one was late or forgotten, no one missed out on a lunch or activity but I just feel as though I have somehow fallen short.
I have some projects I started but have yet to complete.
A 'to-do' list that seems to grow longer by the minute and all I want to do is sit and read.
So today I will.
Sweet Pea has music lessons after school so I will take that time to run to the library and pick myself up a little sumthin , sumthin to tide me over this evening.
Then Monday morning,
bright and early,
I will begin anew.
Have a good weekend!

Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
Wednesday, November 4, 2009
That usually gets everyone to thinking about resolutions and goals.
So my friend Rachel Anne over at HOME SANCTUARY gave us all a challenge this month to set one goal and follow through.
I have been thinking about this for a few days now.
I am all about setting goals but my follow through sucks. ( I can honestly admit that now)
So I was puttering through the house this morning and started thinking about goals I would like to set and accomplish FOR SURE this month.
Like, Has. to. be. done.
So I came up with 3 major things:
1) I really want to better organize the papers that come into this house. From Sweet Pea's school work, to bills, recipes and appliance instructions.
So I need an organization system for ALL of that.
Any suggestions? How do you all deal with the paper clutter?
2) I posted this about how I was feeling about my weight and what all is going on with the food situation in my house. So my goal #2 is to stay committed to doing the "Shred" for the next 30 days and see how that works out. I have a tendency to start strong with programs like this , then falter and then pick it back up toward the end.
Hopefully now that I have put it out there I will stay true to it.
* please feel free to ask me how it's coming and I will be convicted if I've been lagging*
3) Getting a household cleaning schedule and chore list set up.
I'm so lame. I have received so much good advice for setting up a cleaning schedule but have yet to put it on paper or implement it.
( do u see a trend in procrastination maybe?)
No time like the present 'eh?
So those are my November goals.
Hopefully in 30 days I will look back on them and feel accomplished instead of chagrined.
Wish me luck!

There are several birthdays happening this week and I wanted to shout them out now so I don't forget!
